The Baltimore Province has always recognized the great pastoral needs of the men and women serving in the military. During World War II, more than 200 of our confreres served as chaplains in various branches of the armed forces. In the not too recent past, one of our confreres, Father John Collins, C.Ss.R., served was a two-star General who was Chief of Chaplains. We presently have a confrere serving in the naval reserves, as well as a confreres who just finished tours of duty with the Army and Marines in Iraq.

Campus Ministry is very important ministry in the life of the Church. Away from home and family, young people have a need to be rooted in their Catholic faith. Redemptorists have and continue to serve in this very special ministry. For example, Father John Collins, C.Ss.R., the nephew of the Chief of Chaplains, John Collins, currently serves as campus chaplain at Gwynedd-Mercy College in Philadelphia, PA.
