Father Carlyle Blake dies at 83

Father Carlyle Blake, C.Ss.R., died on Holy Thursday, April 18, 2019, at age 83.

A native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, he was the son of the late Arthur and Viola (née Calistro) Blake.

He was professed on August 2, 1957, and ordained to the priesthood on June 17, 1962.

A funeral will be held at Stella Maris in Timonium, Maryland, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23.

On St. Thomas, Father Blake will lie in state Sunday, April 28, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m., with a viewing at 9 a.m. Monday, April 29, followed by 10 a.m. Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral. Father Blake will be buried on the island.
