Father Kevin Milton, C.Ss.R., a member of the St. Alphonsus Villa community at New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died August 9, 2022, at the age of 81 years and 4 months.
Born April 24, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of James Joseph Milton and Frances Trimboli.
He was baptized on May 18, 1941, and confirmed on November 17, 1952 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Brooklyn, NY, where he also attended the parish school. He attended St. Mary’s Preparatory Seminary in North East, PA from 1955 to 1959, did high school there from 1959 to 1961, and completed his first and second year of college there.
He professed temporary vows at St. Mary’s, Ilchester, MD, on August 2, 1962, and perpetual vows on September 2, 1965, at Mt. St. Alphonsus Seminary, where he was also ordained to the priesthood on June 18, 1967.
For his third and fourth year of college, he was enrolled at Mt. St. Alphonsus from 1962 to 1963 and St. Alphonsus College, Suffield, CT from 1963 to 1964, respectively. In addition to receiving his BA at St. Alphonsus College in 1964, he earned his B.Div. in 1967 and MRE at Mt. St. Alphonsus Seminary in 1968. He also did graduate work at the University of Dayton.
Fr. Milton completed the second novitiate at St. Mary’s, Annapolis from 1968 to 1969. He was first assigned to St. Wenceslaus, Baltimore, MD in January of 1969 and stayed there until November 1970. After he went to St. Gerard’s in Lima, Ohio from 1970 to 1977.
The rest of his time in ministry is as follows: St. Mary’s, Annapolis (1977-1981; rector, 1981-1985; July 2011-July 2017); St. Clement, Saratoga Springs (rector, 1985-1996); OLPH, Mission Church, Boston (rector, 1996-2005); Our Lady of Fatima, Baltimore (rector, 2005-2011).
Fr. Milton returned to St. Mary’s Annapolis from 2011 to 2017. He suffered a stroke while at St. Mary’s and needed additional care. He joined the community at the St. John Neumann Residence in May 2017. In August of 2021 he moved to St. Alphonsus Villa in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Eternal rest grant unto KEVIN, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May KEVIN’s soul and the souls of all the faithful departed thru the mercy of God Rest in Peace. Amen.
