Jesus says to us in today’s Gospel, “The Father is in me and I am in the Father” (John 10:38). This is the same Jesus who tells us from the cross that through his act of suffering and death he has forgiven our sins and purified us of all that would get in the way of our new life.
When Jesus forgives, he’s not alone. The Father who is in Jesus and the Spirit who is with the Father and Jesus also make this happen.
The words of the Gospel are words of compassion for those of us who believe. Through Christ’s sacrifice, we are embraced into the mystery of death to sin—and then the new life of the resurrection. This is so we may truly be the presence of God in the world—a presence that reaches out in silence, that says, “I am willing to suffer and even die for you if I have to,” a presence that is love, compassion, forgiveness, and understanding for all those with whom we come in contact.
Today we thank you, Jesus, for dying for us and embracing us into this act of love with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Today we thank you, Jesus, because as we die to ourselves and our selfishness, we remember that through you “the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”
We adore you, Christ, and we bless you because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Jesús nos dice en el Evangelio de hoy: “El Padre está en mí y yo estoy en el Padre” (Juan 10:38). Este es el mismo Jesús que nos dice desde la cruz que a través de su acto de sufrimiento y muerte, ha perdonado nuestros pecados y nos ha purificado de todo lo que se interponga en el camino de nuestra nueva vida. Cuando Jesús perdona, no está solo. El Padre que está en Jesús y el Espíritu que está con el Padre y Jesús también hacen que esto suceda.
Las palabras del Evangelio son palabras de compasión para los que creemos. A través del sacrificio de Cristo, somos abrazados en el misterio de la muerte al pecado, y luego a la nueva vida de la Resurrección. Esto es para que podamos ser verdaderamente la presencia de Dios en el mundo, una presencia que se extiende en silencio, que dice que estoy dispuesto a sufrir e incluso morir por ti si tengo que hacerlo, una presencia que es amor, compasión, perdón, Y comprensión para todos aquellos con quienes nos contactamos.
Hoy te damos gracias, Jesús, por morir por nosotros y abrazarnos en este acto de amor con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo. Hoy te damos gracias, Jesús, porque cuando morimos a nosotros mismos y a nuestro egoísmo, recordamos que a través de ti “el Padre está en mí y yo estoy en el Padre”.
Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos porque a través de tu Santa Cruz has redimido al mundo.
