The North American Institute for Redemptorist Historical Studies will host its triennial public conference September 30 to October 4 at Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua, NY.
Conference begins with registration and a light supper at 6 p.m. Sept. 30, and concludes with morning Mass and breakfast on Oct. 4. Cost is $150 for non-Redemptorists. Reservations are encouraged early as spaces are limited.
Topics include discussion of several prominent Redemptorist preachers and professors, as well as a look at the rich heritage of healing ministries at Redemptorist shrines in North America.
Specific personalities and places highlighted include Fr. Joseph Manton, who made a name for himself as the longtime preacher of Perpetual Help devotions on television; Fr. Francis X. Murphy, who served as a peritus during Vatican II; the dynamics of devotion to St. John Neumann; and the ministries at the shrines of Ste.-Anne-de-Beaupré in Quebec, and Mission Church in Boston.
