The man known far and wide as Boston’s "Healing Priest," Redemptorist Father Edward McDonough, died in the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. In residence at Mission Church (Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help) since 1975, Father McDonough spent his last days at a nearby West Roxbury facility, Deutsches Altenheim, where he was receiving medical care following a series of strokes.
“The General Government of the Redemptorists is confident that the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States will be a blessing for all the citizens of that country. Americans will be impressed by the simplicity, intelligence and spiritual depth of the Holy Father.
