Congratulations to Kevin Bellot who was ordained a transitional deacon earlier this month in Boston along with several Jesuits and Capuchin Franciscans. Kevin, a native of the Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies, will complete his theology studies this fall at Boston College’s School of Theology and Ministry.
Redemptorist students in our formation house in the South Bronx recently spent an evening carving pumpkins. A great way to build community and discover the artists in the house!
Family, friends and confreres will gather on Sunday, October 30 to remember and to pray for four Redemptorist missionaries and one Redemptoristine sister who died this last year. The Memorial Mass will be held at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Mount St. Alphonsus Retreat Center, and will be followed by a prayer service at the Redemptorist cemetery on the grounds.
Father Joseph Oppitz, a well-regarded Redemptorist scholar, died October 6 at the St. John Neumann Residence at Stella Maris in Timonium, MD. He was 85 and had dementia. Click here to read the full obituary.

Redemptorist Author, Missionary, Pastor, Professor, and a Roman Catholic Priest who survived the sinking of the Andrea Doria , Rev. Joseph William Oppitz, CSSR, died on October 6, 2011 under the care of his religious community in the St. John Neumann Residence at Stella Maris in Timonium, Maryland.

Redemptorist Kevin Bellot, a native of the island nation of Dominica and a member of the Redemptorist community at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church) in Roxbury, will be among those ordained to the transitional diaconate October 8 at St. Ignatius Church in Chestnut Hill.
Since their founding in 1732 in Naples, Italy, Redemptorists have traveled far and wide giving parish missions. In October, nine Redemptorist missionaries will bring their trademark down-to-earth preaching and the good news of God’s boundless love to eight parishes in the Diocese of Metuchen, NJ .
