St. John Neumann officially turned 200 years old in March of 2011, but the Redemptorists continue to celebrate this milestone through June of 2012. The traveling relics of St. John Neumann will be in Susquehanna and Scranton, PA, next week visiting two parishes with significant ties to this first male American saint.
Several young men discerning a call to the Redemptorists recently spent a weekend at our formation house in the Bronx, NY. They attended classes with our philosophy students, and then pitched in around the house with some regular weekly chores, like cleaning the community vehicles.
Father Philip Dabney, who is stationed at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church) in Boston, was recently interviewed by CatholicTV about the perpetual novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which is held at the church every week.
It’s that time of year again — students are back in class, parish activities and other extracurricular events are in full-swing, and the Redemptorists are back on the road preaching parish missions! Check our calendar to see whether a Redemptorist mission is being held in your area.
Open to Catholic school students in grades 6-12, this year’s essay theme is "Why is it important to learn about and live my faith?" Entries must be received by February 13, 2012. There will be two categories of judging: grades 6-8 and 9-12.
We remember this week our confreres who are gathering at the Shrine of Ste. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec, Canada, to begin the work of building our North American Conference. This assembly is one of the first official meetings of the new governmental structure mandated by our last General Chapter in Rome in 2009.
In this edition of Plentiful Redemption , read about some of the big events from this summer, and take in the stories of individuals whose chance encounters with Redemptorists changed their lives for the better.
